There are a couple versions of this story, Joel's version and the real version. We met through the work of Taylor's coworkers, and Joel's sister Cara. I have to say, if you are looking for a matchmaker, they are good! We went on our first date at the Tall and Small in Antigonish, and we have been going strong since.
Hurricane Dorian made its way through Barneys River the day before we got engaged. We had no power, and Joel suggested that we go for a run up the mountain to Nicky's Camp, one of our favourite places! I was shack happy and glad to get out of the house, not to mention the view and sunsets up there are AMAZING. We sat there on the porch and watched the sunset that night that was absolutely beautiful after the big storm. As we were getting ready to go Joel hesitated to get up a couple of times, and I was cold and ready to go so as I got up Joel made his move! He asked me to marry him, and I was so happy and in aww that I started crying about five minutes later, haha. I couldn't have asked for a better proposal, and in the words of Joel "Phew I am glad that is over with", although he hid the ring and his nerves very well! He sent me pictures after the fact of me and the ring together, me sleeping with it, me sitting by it, all pre-proposal...
Due to the unfortunate circumstances of the COVID-19 Pandemic we have had to change our marriage plans quite a bit. It is with mixed emotions we have to inform you we are unable to have our original planned wedding. We will be having a small backyard family only wedding, as it is important to us to get married on our original date. As much as we would LOVE to celebrate with everyone, and it saddens us we are not able to at this current time, our biggest concerns are the health and well-being of YOU, our family and friends. Please know we will be thinking of you all during the day, and hope to celebrate together in the near future! Love, Taylor & Joel
