Jake and I met at the beginning of freshman year at the first home Pitt football game vs. Villanova. My friends had met a guy named Izaak at a party a few days prior to the game and made plans with him to go as a big group, with him bringing his guy friends. Game day rolled around, and sure enough Jake was one of those guy friends. I almost immediately thought he was cute, I'm a sucker for blue eyes! Jake says the first thing he noticed about me was my hair and that he knew he wanted to pursue me once we started talking. I definitely made him work for it. As my friends say I wouldn't give him the "time of day" for quite a while HA. But his persistence paid off and we started dating March 9th, 2017... or was it March 3rd? That is a whole different story, and quite funny too, in classic Jake style. Feel free to ask me about it, it's one of my favorites to tell.
Jake and I had been planning to get our families together for dinner and ended up picking December 22. He texted me that day and asked me to come a little earlier in the day so we could go for a walk on the trail near his house to meet up with one of his best friends Corey and his new girlfriend. Note: Jake and I are not the "lets go hiking on a trail" type of couple. Thus, this was so out of character for Jake, and I definitely had my suspicions. I grilled him with questions and told him that I didn't want to go, but he was dead set on meeting up with them so he ended up convincing me to. On my drive to his house I called my best friend (and now Maid of Honor!!) Liv and told her my suspicions that he was going to ask! Jake and I walked down to the trail and crossed over a beautiful bridge by turtle creek watershed. As I was taking a picture of the overpass, I turned around there he was down on one knee!
