How We Met

It all started on the first day of college at Cal Poly SLO during the notorious Week of Welcome (or WOW for short).

We both remember the moment quite vividly. The goal of the first day's event was to socialize with others living throughout the Sierra Madre dorms. Jack was in Tower 2 and Taylor in Tower 5. Day one consisted of a tie-dyeing activity where everyone was given a t-shirt and the necessary supplies to create a green and gold t-shirt to proudly represent their new school’s freshmen pride. At the tie-dyeing table, Taylor and Jack stood across from one another. Jack was more focused on the pretty girl across the table while Taylor was keenly focused on creating the most brilliant tie-dye shirt the school had ever seen. Jack, who couldn’t have cared less about the outcome of his shirt, decided to take advantage of the opportunity both socially and creatively and started the conversation. “Have you tie-dyed a shirt before? Yours looks so good!”, we believe to be the opening line… (interested, complimentary, and a great door opener.) Jack, playing the part of the helpless man, ultimately went on to say that he had never tie-dyed a shirt before and could use some pointers. Taylor’s sweet soul jumped into action and kindly helped Jack finish the process, enjoying the conversation while laughing and smiling along the way. That was the moment that we met and began a journey down a path that neither could ever have imagined to ultimately come together, fall in love, and share our lives together forever. Throughout college and even post graduation, we remained friends, at times wondering if it was the right time to pursue something romantic seriously, but the timing was just never right to pursue anything further. Fast forward 10 years later, Taylor had heard Jack’s quarantine Instagram videos were hilarious. She went to re-follow him on Instagram to see (you can ask Jack why there was an unfollow). Jack slid into her DMs. He was confused and asked quickly, "You’re just following me now, I thought we were friends!!". The two of us caught up seeing where we were in life, picking right back up where we left off. A few months later we went on our first real date at Izzy’s Steakhouse in San Francisco, and were inseparable from there, making many special memories with our families and friends across all our favorite places in California and beyond. After 2+ years of dating, it was the last weekend to boat in Lake Tahoe in September 2023. What Taylor thought was just another weekend to put the boat away, turned out to be when Jack was popping the question. Taylor thought Jack was trying to get them to jump in the lake. It turned out to be him asking Taylor to spend the rest of their lives together. We now live together in heart of the Marina District in San Francisco, CA., where we continue to enjoy endless walks around the city, and continuing to make memories with family and friends in Tahoe and wine country during the weekends. We're so excited to celebrate with you all in Sonoma to help ring in the start of this next chapter of our lives together!
