Hersch and I's story began on Instagram. I know what you are thinking -- "Seriously?" I also used to cringe when I told people that, but I also think that fate was playing a very funny game with us. You see, we went to high school together. At John Adams, I dreamed of being a part of Hersch's friend group. They seemed like such a genuine group of people and I really liked that. Unfortunately for me, I was too shy to talk to any of them so we all graduated and went our own ways. Then in college at Saint Mary's, Hersch delivered me a pizza. I barely remember this day, but he says that he remembers clearly because I was "so pretty" and because I "tipped really well". He left that day thinking of me. A few years later, while in graduate school, I created a Twitter account and we began following each other. I noticed right away that Hersch would "like" a lot of the things I posted. It made me feel seen and it made me think of him as well. And still neither of us reached out to each other. On May 25. 2019, Hersch posted his first (and one of his only) Instagram stories. It was him and his friends in a pool with a pineapple floaty. Being obsessed with pineapple shaped things, I decided to go for it and message him. Luckily for me, he was drunk because as he says "I never would have had the courage to respond to a beautiful girl without alcohol." We've been inseparable since.
