We met under fortuitous conditions at the beginning of the 2012 school year at UW. Having just moved into apartments across the hall from each other we began spending a majority of our free time together, along with our roommates. Our group could often be caught together at football games, various parties around campus, or glued in front of the TV for a quick horror movie marathon on the weekends. As the school year went on we became closer friends, which led to us spending time together aside from the group talking and making our own plans. By the start of the second semester it was apparent there was something more than just friendship in store for us, and by February of 2013 we were officially dating.

While on a trip to Washington DC, which was a first for one of us (Evan) and the dozenth for the other (Taylor), we spent an evening after a romantic dinner walking along the National Mall. Taylor lead the way through the monuments and along the Potomac, while Evan patted his pocket every half block, ensuring the ring in his pocket was still there. After strolling past the Reflecting Pool, up to the Lincoln Memorial, and then continuing down the river, Evan popped the question along the Potomac on the steps of the Jefferson memorial. During that time we were able to embrace and enjoy our moment in the evening together. With a stroke of luck another tourist decided to take a walk through the space & snapped our first picture together as an engaged couple. We spent the rest of the evening celebrating at a nearby tiki bar with tropical island drinks and calling or texting our loved ones to tell them we got engaged, all while Sharknado played on the 70 inch TV in the background.
