Taylor and Emma were introduced in September 2020 by a mutual friend. At the time, Emma was attending Basic Training for the Army and, without access to her phone for 10 weeks, she found a unique way to get to know Taylor—writing letters. She reached out to Taylor and asked him to be her pen pal, giving her something to look forward to amid the challenges of training. Every Sunday evening at mail call Emma would wait with anticipation to hear back from him. For 10 weeks, they exchanged letters, sharing stories about training, their favorite things, and their hopes for the future. When Emma finally completed Basic Training and regained access to her phone, their conversations continued—this time through texts, calls, and FaceTime. For a year, Taylor and Emma stayed connected before officially meeting in person in September 2021. From the moment they met, their connection was undeniable. They began dating on October 12, 2021, and have been inseparable ever since. In June 2022, Emma moved to Salem, OR, where their love continued to grow. Through every challenge and every milestone, their bond has only strengthened. What started as ink on paper turned into a love story that was simply meant to be.
