FAQs

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The attire for our ceremony and reception is black tie optional. We envision tuxes or dark suits for men and primarily long gowns for women. See the following article for a more extensive description: https://www.brides.com/black-tie-optional-wedding-attire-4800698

Question

How do I get to the wedding venue? Will transportation be provided?

Answer

We will be providing a shuttle from the hotels to the cathedral, from the cathedral to the reception venue, and back to the hotels after the reception (or to the afterparty location for those looking to extend the night). We encourage you to take advantage of this option, but should you choose to drive yourself, there will be limited parking available near the cathedral and reception venue. Shuttles to the ceremony will pick up from the hotels at the following times: 2:45pm The Renaissance Hotel 3:15pm The Westin Hotel 3:20pm Hotel Monaco

Question

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

Answer

The shuttles will arrive to the ceremony by 3:30. For those coordinating their own transportation, please arrive no later than 3:45, as the ceremony procession will begin before 4pm.

Question

When and where will the shuttle pick me up?

Answer

We are still finalizing the time of shuttle pick-up, but for now you can assume that the shuttles will pick up at all three hotels (Hotel Monaco, Renaissance, Westin) around 2:45pm.

Question

Is there parking available near your wedding venue?

Answer

There is a parking lot near the cathedral and limited parking spaces available at the reception venue (there will be some spots near the Rotunda and additional capacity below). We encourage guests to take advantage of our shuttle option where appropriate. Guests may leave their cars near the shuttle pickup location; some suggested garages are listed below. Please note that the Pirates are in town this weekend and therefore parking may be more crowded than usual, so please leave yourself ample time to get in and out of the garages. https://www.pittsburghparking.com/Facilities/Smithfield-Liberty-Garage https://www.pittsburghparking.com/Facilities/Mellon-Square Those staying at the Hotel Monaco may use their valet parking services if desired.

Question

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Answer

Please refer to your invitation for indication of guests invited to the wedding. Our goal is to keep our very special weekend as intimate as possible, and therefore we are requesting no additional guests are included. Thank you for respecting our wishes.

Question

Am I allowed to bring my children?

Answer

We welcome children to join us for our ceremony and our farewell brunch! We kindly ask that welcome drinks and our reception remain adults-only events.

Question

What is the weather like in the area?

Answer

While July 20 has historically been Pittsburgh's hottest day of the year, temps typically range between a high of 83 degrees and a low of 66 degrees Fahrenheit.

Question

Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

All of our wedding weekend events will take place indoors, so the weather should not be a major factor. The only exception to this is our cocktail hour, which will be held outside under a cover that will shield guests from the elements.

Question

What type of food and drink will be served?

Answer

Our welcome drinks event will feature cocktails and heavy appetizers for those needing a bite after getting into town. On the wedding day, passed hors d'oeuvres will be available during the cocktail hour and a full plated dinner will be served at the reception. Be sure to save some room for Cleveland cassata cake and the traditional Pittsburgh cookie table, featuring the famous Mrs. Perz cookies! See the following link for a brief history of the Pittsburgh Cookie Table: https://weddingcookietable.com/history/ Our reception will also feature a full open bar, serving our favorite wines, beers, and cocktails.

Question

Can I bring my gift to the wedding?

Answer

Your presence is present enough, but should you wish to bring a gift to our wedding, there will be a gift table for your convenience.

Question

I've never been to a Catholic mass - what will the ceremony be like?

Answer

We recognize that a Catholic ceremony may be a new endeavor for some of our guests and want to make sure everyone feels welcome to join us. Our wedding program will walk you through all the details, so no need to worry! You can expect the ceremony to last around one hour and include some components of a typical Catholic mass, including readings, hymns, and communion. We hope that everyone will join us in celebrating our love and encourage you to participate in whatever way makes you feel most comfortable.
