DelVon and I met during Polar Bear weekend in Carbondale, IL. Polar Bear is an annual event held at SIU to kick start the Spring Semester. Every year the “BRUHZ”/Omegas host the biggest day party, students and alum from all over attend. Not long after arriving at the party, DelVon approached me and introduced himself. He was charming, handsome and had a way with words, I was instantly hooked. Shortly after our introduction he approached me again, and asked to take me to dinner. We snuck away and had our first "mini" date! We sat and ate for what seemed like forever; talking about our dreams, careers and of course sports. I felt like I was in a movie, and I didn’t want the night to end. We both returned to the party, but when we returned DelVon was nowhere to be found. I was crushed, but also confused because he left without saying goodbye. I was so determine to find and confront him, but he had vanished. After questioning what seemed like every “BRUH” at the party, I finally got his number. (Thanks MAINE!!). I slid in his DM and let him know I did not appreciate being ghosted/ stood up. To my surprise he responded, and casually mentioned he was back in STL. His reasoning for leaving was, “He had to get back to Missouri so he could make it to church the next morning”. We later found out there was more to that story.... BUT that’s not important anymore LOL. He apologized and promised to make it up to me. He was a man of his word! 3 months later we were together again on our second date and the rest is history. The past 3.5 years have been filled with so much love and adventure and we would not trade that for anything in the world. We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives! LETS GET MARRIED BABY!!!
