Our First Date

#DontGuacwithMe

Our first date? Well, our romantic love story starts out with an empty guacamole bowl in February of 2020. Taylor went to meet Codi at El Techo, a trendy roof top taqueria in the Mission District of San Francisco. Right away, she judged him for choosing a date location that put beans and rice in their burritos. As she waltzed up the stairs to meet Codi, he greeted her with an empty guacamole bowl. "Sorry, I really tried to save some for you," was all he could think to say. Taylor was relieved to see there was at least half a pitcher of margarita left. Smashed avocados aside, Codi was able to break the ice with a few corny jokes and a beard that was more suited to duck dynasty than it was to the city by the bay. As the evening progressed the two discovered that they had many things in common. They both loved camping, trying new restaurants and a relatively obscure athlete out of San Mateo named Tom Brady. The conversation was flowing and so were the tacos. The couple ate drank and were merry, but like any great taco so too did this night have to come to an end. After they went Dutch on the bill Codi lead Taylor down the stairs and out onto the streets of the bustling mission district. A quiet tension ensued as the young couple decided what would happen next. With the uber on the way it was crunch time and Taylor planted one on Codi. Just enough to leave him speechless, climb into her 2008 Nissan Altima chariot and disappear off into the night. Thankfully, for these two this was just the beginning.

COVID-19-20-21-22

#ItsJustaPhase

Shortly after our couples magical night of fish tacos and empty guacamole bowls the Covid-19 Pandemic hit. While many remained isolated through this time, Codi and Taylor used it as an opportunity to spend quality time together. There were picnics on the frigid San Francisco beaches. Walks through picturesque golden gate park with a bottle of wine. Nights in playing board games with friends and neighbors. One night in particular stands out. Cinco de Mayo 2020. The city was still locked down and this was one of Taylor's favorite holidays. Plus, it fell on Taco Tuesday. Codi knew after his last Mexican themed debacle this one had to be better. After all Taco Tuesday and Cinco de Mayo falling on the same day is like Halley's comet, except it happens sooner than every 80 years. So Codi whipped out an app he'd become far too familiar with throughout the pandemic, Uber Eats. Before you go judging, he ordered groceries okay. His plan was to make her some truly San Diego tacos with all the fixings. There was carne, there was pollo, there was lingua, jk that was no lingua thats gross, but for the most part the tacos were a hit. It was a night of laughs and stories around the 52 Innes fire pit with neighbors and friends. A much needed departure from the current state of San Francisco. As the evening wound down our heroes Codi and Taylor were the last two standing. In true millennial fashion a conversation was had and the two became "official".

The Proposal

#ALittleOaky

Throughout their relationship Taylor and Codi always had a love for traveling. They'd been to 6 National Parks, 9 states, and the Bahamas all in the first 2 years they'd been dating. From the roulette tables of Las Vegas to the waterfalls of Oahu they'd experienced a lot together. When Codi asked if she wanted to wine taste in the mountains just outside of San Diego while they were visiting home it was an immediate yes without a second thought. Taylor might not have thought much about his offer, but Codi had...quite a bit. He had been planning it for weeks now. From selecting the perfect ring to creating an elaborate ruse in order to get her out to San Diego (he faked his brothers graduation). He was going to combine all of her favorite things and make her an offer she couldn't refuse. There was nature wine and family, Taylor's big three. The morning of the proposal was like any other. Taylor was excited for her day of wine tasting. Codi was nervous almost forgetting to put that little box in his pocket on the way out the door. Their drive up was quiet with Codi thinking about what in the world he was going to say and Taylor enjoying the beautiful San Diego countryside. As they arrived at their first tasting, Menghini Winery, Codi relaxed a bit as he saw how much Taylor was enjoying herself. They admired the beauty of this venue set in a valley just outside Julian and Taylor jokingly said how amazing of a wedding venue this would be. Little did she know how close to home she hit. As their afternoon of wine tasting wound down Codi offered to go have a picnic with the promise of charcuterie. Nothing gets Taylor going quite like the promise of meats, cheese and maybe some dark chocolate. The drive over Taylor could sense some nervous energy in the car, but couldn't understand why. As she walked up the path to the picnic through oak trees she understood why. Previously, their picnics had been limited to an all in one picnic bag Taylor had bought off amazon the year prior. This one was different. It had a square wood table on metal prong legs. White roses in a vase with more scattered on the table around two long white candle sticks. A wicker picnic basket under the table filled with all her favorite meats, cheeses and yes even dark chocolate. Pillows and a rug to sit on all framed by 4 white wood branches in an tipi with a chandelier hanging from the top. It was bougie to say the least. Now it was Taylor's turn to be nervous. As they approached Codi didn't have a speech planned, but he couldn't have been more confident in what he was going to ask her. So he thought why delay it and as they walked into a good position for the photographers hiding in the bushes he got down on one knee and popped the question. Most of what he said was a blur, but it was something along the lines of "I love you, will you marry me?". We want you to help us write our next story. Please join us Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Rancho Guejito Vineyard for an evening of love and celebration.
