Our story began in 1999 when Taylor moved to Albuquerque for high school. We first met at events co-hosted by our church youth groups. Our friendship continued in college at UNM through a Bible study. We had many mutual friends and similar interests. By 2014 we had both started attending Desert Springs Church. God graciously put us in a context where we got to serve His people and, independent of one another, traveled to Guatemala for the sake serving local churches among the Mayan Achi people.

While we had been in the same church context and friend groups for years, we reconnected in January 2024 during a training trip in Guatemala. Taylor had lived and served in-country for two years when she stepped in to translate a series of lessons which Brett was helping to teach. That week began the renewal of an old friendship, which was continued via email...and then many more emails. When Taylor came back to Albuquerque for a visit in March, we started officially dating in pursuit of marriage. Our relationship carried on as Taylor traveled through Europe and returned to Guatemala. What had started as a friendship had become a sweet romance, and we realized that we were very closely aligned on many important matters.

After pursuing a great deal of counsel and having many conversations, we were officially engaged during another trip back to Albuquerque in May. Our engagement continued across countries (and continents) once again, and Taylor returned to Guatemala to wrap up her service there. We are delighted to see the Lord's work across decades and across many miles in bringing us to this place. It is a privilege to share in the enjoyment of one another's company, and our mutual friendship has been a great blessing. Ultimately, we really enjoy each other's "way of being" in the world, and we trust that God has brought us to this good place. Thank you for celebrating with us!
