Best Man
Andrew may be my older brother, but he and I were two peas in a pod - at least when it came to our Korean facial features. When we were younger, we were mistaken for one another so many times that we started to tell people we were twins (our teachers did not appreciate it). Although we are certainly not twins, he is usually one of the first people I go to for advice on navigating my career, personal relationships, and when to buy the dip. As a graduate from Boston College, Andrew works in data science & analytics for one of the largest stock brokers in the country. He and his fiancé, Abby, currently reside in San Diego, CA with their pup Harper.

Dr. Julie and I met at a teen beauty pageant and quickly became inseparable. Since then, Julie has gone on to graduate from Centre College and UofL School of Medicine. Julie now uses her brains and infinite compassion at Norton Hospital’s NICU. Julie is equally as smart as she is funny, proof being her naming the Springate Family dog after me when we were 13-years-old. Julie, thank you for having my back no matter what; we’re so excited to celebrate with you!

My nephew Anthony is the younger brother I always wanted. Not much separates us in terms of age, so when we were younger we enjoyed many of the same activities - video games, airsoft, and football. Being the dexterous individual that he is, picking up new skills like cooking, baseball, guitar-playing, and even finger-boarding required almost no effort. Those skills would catapult him to the position of managing chef at the late Butchertown Grocery. As much as I'd love to have you cook an amazing meal for Taylor and I on our wedding day, I'd rather have you standing next to me and celebrating with us!

Lauren, although you’re an adult, you’ll always be, “Baby” to me. Lauren is my baby cousin, but we act more like sisters. Lauren is a graduate of Atherton High School and is currently a sophomore at University of Cincinnati. In addition to her many academic successes, Lauren is my weekend fishing buddy- ask her about the time she caught a 30lb flathead catfish. Baby, the family is so proud of you, and we can’t wait to see all that you’ll accomplish. Thank you for celebrating with us- we love you!

Michael is one of the most interesting individuals you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting. We initially thought our first encounter was on the third floor of Siena Hall at Bellarmine when we were freshman, but later discovered it was actually when we played each other in lacrosse our senior year of high school (he probably fouled me). In a strange but fitting way, our mutual enjoyment of house & electronic music would be the spark to creating incredible memories that took us halfway across the world. Taylor and I are so happy that you'll be part of our big day.

The new mom of the group! Presley and her husband just welcomed their beautiful baby girl into the world this past October. Before Presley was a mom or wife, Presley and I competed in pageants together under the guidance of Carmella Marcella Garcia, a beloved drag queen. Outside of pageants, Presley is a sponsored drag racer and can hit any target with her crossbow. Presley, thank you for always being the friend who is open for any adventure, and congratulations on your family’s newest addition!

Alex was the first guy I met at Bellarmine freshman orientation, but I immediately recognized his name. He and I shared many mutual friends from high school, but somehow we never crossed paths before Bellarmine. We would go on to be roommates for several years and I got to witness firsthand his ability to up the tempo at any party or outing. He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Louisville with their daughter Ellie.

Mackenzie and I became friends at Western Kentucky University where we were members of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. In addition to her degree from WKU, Mackenizie is also a pharmacy graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and now works in Nashville. Mackenzie gained the title of, “woo girl” in a 100-level college class for her ability to cheer during any situation. Mackenzie, thank you for making every day fun and every moment spent with you absolutely hilarious!

Shannon and I became friends our freshman year at Bellarmine and eventual roommates. That turned out to be a great life decision as my prior dorm room flooded later that year, but also because Shannon and I had so much in common- our strong interests in lacrosse & football, we were both business majors, and even our dry sarcasm. I'm just glad we both made it out of Siena in one piece so that you could celebrate with Taylor and I!

Though tensions are generally (and inappropriately) high at teen beauty pageants in rural Kentucky, Miranda made our pageant days some of my most treasured memories. One of my favorite memories of Miranda is of her hiding fried chicken in her dress for us to eat backstage at The Miss Kentucky Pageant. Fried chicken or not, Miranda is consistently the friend who is always by my side— even when life gets turbulent. Miranda is one of the kindest people I know. Though she and her husband now live in Atlanta, Miranda will forever remain one of my closest friends. Thank you for being a part of our big day!

Deep house music. That was enough for Justin and I to become friends and take part in shenanigans halfway across the world. Although we haven't made it back to Ultra (yet), you certainly know how to create memories even without ear-numbing DJ sets with bass so strong it'll make your chest throb. Thanks for being part of our big day!

Thomas Knepshield III, Taylor’s stepbrother, is a senior at UNC Greensboro, studying meteorology and computer science. When Trip isn’t studying, he’s chasing storms throughout The Great Plains or cross country training in Grand Canyon. Though Trip is a nationally-ranked cross country runner, he’s known for his adoration of clinically obese cats, Weezer, The Eagle Scouts, and dressing as a notorious serial killer for all photo-ops. Trip once sent me a coconut in the mail with the address written on the husk just to see if the USPS would deliver it (they did). Thanks for sending me pictures of cute animals everyday; we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
