FAQs

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Black tie preferred. Think tuxedos, dark suits, floor-length gowns, and generally an excuse to wear something fabulous. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to overdress, this is it.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

10/10/2026

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

The Simpson House does have a parking lot (north of the House) but cars cannot be left overnight. The venue is a short walk from a streetcar stop if you’re feeling cosmopolitan.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Bring an epi pen. Just kidding - we’re serving a buffet and feel confident there will be something for everyone.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

The Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza is walking distance from the venue! We have a block of rooms available here at a discounted rate - you just need to book by 10/23/2026. For more information or to book your room, contact Emily Homolka at 816-531-3000 EXT 622 or use the link on the Travel tab. Aida Hotel and the Truitt are also great options in the same neighborhood as the Simpson House.

Question

Help! I've never been to a gay wedding. What is it?

Answer

It's like a straight wedding but with better music. Also, fun fact - your gift should be double the value you would give a straight couple.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Yes. Dress accordingly and trust the process.

Question

Can I request a song?

Answer

You can but you have to donate $20 to the Honeymoon Fund. It’s like TouchTunes but bridal.

Question

What should I do if I have questions on the wedding day?

Answer

Not text the brides. That’s the main thing. If you have questions about your wardrobe, call Lily Beck.
