I was pretty much hating on dating sites and refusing to get involved. A friend of mine was insistent that I join... she was not happy with the guys I was meeting and would not let up. Under pressure I did it and thank goodness. Taylor was there - the first day - and immediately caught my eye. I swiped right, he did too. I bailed. What was I thinking! Thank goodness, he did not and asked for more time. Our first date was dinner and we have been inseparable ever since.
The actual engagement story is sweet and short... Boy surprises girl and nervously gets down on one knee on a dock at Lake Minnetonka. Girl bursts into tears and says YES! A celebration with family follows! What lead up to it was one beautiful serendipity after another. I did not make it super easy on him. As you may know... in some situations I can tend to like things a certain way... LOL! That is true for the proposal, as I had a dream - a cute outfit, hair and make-up done, good pictures taken, my mom in town, and family present, and a SURPRISE! Taylor wanted to make my dreams come true... sweet man! Luckily he had a team well versed in Allie! Taylor set up a brunch with his parents and of course, said they asked us to brunch, at a place they frequented on Lake Minnetonka. He knew I would pull myself together (past experience - that's a whole other story) as it is on the fancier side. Check: Hair, make-up and a cute outfit. The photographer was a challenge. Everybody Taylor, his parents, friends and my parents could think of were not available the weekend my mom was in town for another event. The morning before the proposal, my mom met with a friend for breakfast, a friend she had forgotten was a talented hobby photographer with a camera and a long range lens. Also, I would not recognize her in the park - remember a surprise. She was up for the task! Check: photographer Taylors dad was admitted to the hospital the day before and sadly could not make it. That gave Taylor the gift of time. He set-up for his mom to send a text saying she was running late because she stopped at the hospital to see his dad. He asked me if I wanted to walk down to the docks and look around before she arrived. I agreed - why not... still not getting it. Taylors mom and my parents, along with the photographer were hiding in the park by the docks. It was amazing! Everybody came running down for hugs and Sue caught the whole thing on camera. Dream #1 complete! Oh I love that man!
