We met at work! It's the place where we all spend most of our time anyway, so what better place to meet someone? Alex and I both started working at Veterans United Home Loans at the beginning of 2020. We were put on the same team in the closing department, and everyone was just getting to know each other when people came back to the office in 2021. Eventually, my good friend Anna and I decided to get a group of us together from the team, including Alex, to go out for drinks after work at Logboat. We would do this pretty often, and we all became pretty good friends. For quite a while, Alex and I were just friends, until one night when we were out with our group on Cinco de Mayo. We had the best conversations that night - we both surprised each other a little bit with how well we were hitting it off. We both remember having butterflies as we walked to our cars. A couple weeks later, one night after a team event, a smaller group of us stuck around longer to hang out at a bar. We were playing cornhole, and luckily Alex and I got to stand on the same side. There was definitely a spark between us - we kept talking the rest of the evening and instantly had a connection. We were having such a great time together, and later that night, Alex asked me out on a date. We knew we were taking a risk with dating at work, but we're so glad we did! It worked out better than I ever could've imagined. After we dated for a little over a year, Alex proposed while we were on a hike on our trip to the Great Smoky Mountains in TN. It was definitely a proposal of my dreams, and I could not wait to start wedding planning!
