It was like any other normal night for me and my friends, Trivia at Snowbelt Brewery. The trivia team was made up of various characters. So on this particular Thursday when Paig invited Brett Sides to join our team I thought nothing of it other than he was good looking and being competitive hoped he was good at trivia. We sat down and I was at one end of the table and Brett was at the opposite. Again, this was normal, but then Paig made EVERYONE switch chairs and somehow Brett and I “coincidentally” ended up next to each other. At this point you would think I would have picked up on what was happening...but I didn’t. We quickly started chatting, laughing, and having a great time. He asked me if I golfed and I said “no, I don’t, I don’t do anything I am not naturally good at.” I couldn’t have been more of my self that night. We continued to laugh and talk all night... while our team won? ... lost? To this day we still aren’t sure. At some point winning trivia was not important to either of us. It wasn’t until I was driving home that night that I thought..wait..was that.. it couldn’t be... Did she just set me up? Turns out she did. Brett and I talked on and off via text for the next week and scheduled a date for the following Thursday. We had dinner and talked for the next THREE hours! The only reason we left was because the bartender started putting on his coat and glaring. We just clicked. From that night on we were basically inseparable. In the last year we have traveled, I have learned to golf, remodeled the house, a career change, and lots of great times and tough times. All of which made us a stronger couple. About a year later in Grand Rapids Brett proposed. We were walking across a bridge and midway through Brett asked a stranger to take our picture. As we posed for the picture he said “give me a kiss!”. Afterwards I started to re-pose for a picture, but as I did Brett got down on one knee grabbed my hand and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
