Passport Requirement

You will need a Passport to travel to Portugal that is valid for at least three months beyond your date of departure from the US, with 2 blank pages.

Flight

Humberto Delgado Airport, Lisbon (LIS) & Faro International Airport (FAO)

Direct flights to Lisbon are available from Boston, New York and Washington DC. From Lisbon, it is about a 2.5 hour drive to Lagos town. We would suggest renting a car, taking the train, booking a shuttle, or scheduling a connecting flight to Faro Airport. There is a direct flight from EWR to Faro. Faro Airport is located in the Algarve, about 45 minutes from Lagos town. From here, you can get an Uber, Taxi, or pick up a rental car. Faro Airport is well connected with many gateways in Europe.

Getting Around

If you choose to rent a car, we suggest making a reservation in advance. Sixt, Enterprise, Guerin, Hertz, Europcar and Budget all operate in Portugal. We would not recommend renting a car while you are staying in Lisbon. Uber is widely available in Portugal, and in our experience taxis are easy to come by. Bolt is another rideshare app that can be used in Portugal.
