Tay and I have one of those love stories that still doesn’t feel real sometimes. We met at an event in Maumelle, Arkansas, and the funny part is neither of us even planned on being there. Looking back now, it’s hard not to believe we were exactly where we were supposed to be. We noticed each other before we ever spoke. We both told our friends how attractive the other was, not knowing the feeling was mutual. Then at some point, we ended up close enough to really see each other, and when our eyes met, everything else faded and it felt as if we were the only two in the room. After a while, Tay finally walked over to my table. We didn’t talk long, but it was long enough to spark something between us. Before he left, he put his number in my phone, and my heart knew that moment meant more than I could explain. Not long after, I saw him walking toward the exit, and I remember thinking, “There’s no way this is how this end.” I quickly followed behind him. Before he could even leave the parking lot, I called him. Yes, immediately! He answered, turned around, and walked back to where I was. We stood there talking like we’d known each other forever, like we were just picking up a conversation that had been paused. People call love at first sight a cliché, but honestly, we don’t know what else to call it. From the moment we met, something just felt right. And that feeling was right because that night became the beginning of us.
