Once Upon a Time… (Or, to be specific, in 2019 at the Roseville Caribou Coffee) …A once-in-a-lifetime love was found in an unexpected place. And, to think, it all began with breaking the cardinal rule: Never Date Your Coworker. Even more scandalous, Baker Jake was hired to make bagels, Tay was his boss (shh-don't tell!) A slow burn, Tay & Jake’s friendship grew from that day. Their relationship began to shift in 2020, when COVID forbade them from seeing their friends and family and the only people to spend time with were their coworkers. Luckily, this meant Tay and Jake had each other. That same year, Tay invited her then-friend Jake to the cabin (her favorite place) to celebrate the 4th of July (her favorite holiday) together. “You’re gonna need this,” Tay said as she handed Jake a beer at 11:00 AM, to which he blushingly laughed in response to her charming sense of humor. After a holiday weekend spent together on the pontoon, Jake sweating in 90 degree heat, and watching fire works, it was clear that their connection was blossoming into something more. When the party was over and everyone went home, Tay received a text from Jake: “I need to tell you something…” he said, “I have a crush on you.” Immediately, she broke into a nervous sweat. Tay, previously guarded and fiercely protective of her emotions, would usually run for the hills (and she tried). Yet, here she was, feeling…something? Butterflies? She had to figure this out. So, shortly after, Tay went to Jake's house to have the dreaded ‘eggshell talk.” By this of course she means that she sat like an egg until finally mustering up the courage to say how she felt. “I’m scared that I am going to ruin your life,” Tay said anxiously. To which Jake responded, with sincerity that comforted her, "I think we should give this a shot.” …So, they did. On November 15th 2020, Jake officially asked Tay to be his girlfriend. On December 29th 2023—after 3 years of love, life, and lessons—Jake got down on one knee and asked Tay to be his wife. Fast forward—after 3 more years of growth, trust, and devotion—this fairytale doesn’t conclude with “The End:” November 14th 2026 will mark the beginning of their next beautiful chapter. -Story written by Tahnee Lynne- We ask you to join us in celebrating our love story together in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina!
