Grey’s Version: We met through one of the IU student communities. Tay made a post looking for friends to walk around campus with. I offered to show them around despite only having been on campus for two weeks. We agreed to meet at the Eskenazi Museum of Art. We spent quite a while walking the galleries, just talking and getting to know each other. Then, we sat on the upstairs museum patio and enjoyed a snack. I was so intrigued by them. I insisted on waiting with them at their bus stop to continue talking. It was a wonderful start to a friendship, I had no idea then that we would end up falling in love. Tay’s Version: I moved to Bloomington as a transfer student August 2021. I decided to transfer to IU because I was looking for a challenge. I was at the top of all my academic programs and was just bored. A challenge is exactly what I got. Moving to Bloomington leaving behind all my friends and family was a bigger adjustment then I had expected. I was not handling the adjustment well. I struggled with homesickness, getting the hang of life away from my hometown and figuring out how to be successful at IU. I made a post on a page for LGBT IU students looking for friends and someone who could help me get adjusted to my new life. Grey was the first to respond by reaching out to me through snapchat. When Grey mentioned meeting up, I was quick to let Grey know I was 28 years old. I was very thankful Grey didn’t mind, because I desperately needed a friend. Grey and I met up at the campus art museum and quickly became best friends. I was so happy to have found someone I clicked with so well who was also going through the same stresses and adjustments I was.
