Many of you have never experienced the world of dating by using a myriad of dating apps. Some of the responsibilities include strategically selecting photos, writing the perfect bio about yourself, and responding with the wittiest comments. Taylor and I met on one of these apps, called Bumble. What is unique about Bumble is that after two people “like” each other, the girl has to send the first message to the guy, which Taylor was not shy about. Matt noticed a photo of Taylor that interested him. You might be thinking a picture of her at the beach or going out on the town. Nope. It was a picture of her, mid-bite, eating a burger at a music festival. You may be saying, why that photo? To Matt, that photo showed authenticity. It was a woman who was confident, not scared to hide behind strategic and heavily edited photos, or a “perfect” bio. Taylor’s first messgae to Matt was "It was the cheeseburger pic that made you swipe right, wasn't it?!". Matt, responded how he loved the burger-eating photo. Being his customarily obnoxious self, he also commented how he loved the mustard stain on her shirt in the burger photo. There was no mustard stain. Waiting to hear back on how she would respond, Matt expected a matter-of-fact “there is no mustard stain” response. Instead, Taylor responded back laughing and admitted she carefully analyzed the photo for signs of mustard and could not see it.
