How We Met

The Wedding Website of Tawney Lee and Jonathan Lu
Question

Who made the first move?

Answer

Tawney: We met on Hinge, and I SENT THE FIRST LIKE..i think..! We had messaged each other solely via text for two months before our first date. Our conversations brought much joy and laughter; I knew we had something special even before we met. Bonus points for adding a picture of sweet Angel🐾😇 because it was her picture that made me send the first "like ❤️". Jon: Obviously, I made the first move. I made the first move on Hinge and liked her first, she followed by liking my pup and only commenting about my dog's picture, nothing about me....But I continued on to pursue her. Tawney was also trying to avoid meeting with me by telling me she couldn't meet because of school. As soon as she finished her cosmetology school, I immediately asked her if she wanted to go out. NO FEAR, NO HESITATION.

Question

How was the First date?

Answer

Tawney: I got inside Jon's car, and the first thing I did was lower the volume🤣. Jon surprised me and took us to his favorite steamed crab restaurant on the Redondo Beach Pier. Steamed crab is one of my favorite meals, but I think I only ate 2 legs that night..I was very nervous. Thankfully, Jon was tearing up these crabs, and he was able to finish mine too! Although I wasn't able to maintain eye contact or say too much, Jon's confidence made me comfortable, and our first date was very enjoyable. My favorite part of our first date was walking along the beach and openly sharing about life and what we seek and need in a partner. We ended the date on a sweet note with ice cream, and we have never skipped a weekend ever since. Jon: The first date was very fun for me. I remember when I first picked her up, Tawney would not even look at me in the car and stared straight ahead. We went to eat crab at Redondo Beach for our first date, and little did I know that crab is one of her favorite foods. But she could hardly eat any crab because she was nervous while I was cracking away at the crabs with a hammer. I got to eat two crabs that night. She tells me that after the first date, she didn't know what I looked like, because she was scared to look at me. We took a nice walk after crab, and I felt that we had really clicked when we were talking to each other. Our humor was similar, and our conversations were very meaningful for a first date.

Question

How did you know they were the One?

Answer

Tawney: We are two completely different people, and although we share no common hobbies or interests, loving Jon was easy and felt right. There has never been a day I questioned his love for me. Jon makes my good days greater and the bad days not so bad. I still miss him even after we just met! He truly is my best friend, and I love that we both can learn and lean on each other. He was really built for me, and I thank God for sending a soft-hearted, nerdy beast who I can call home. Jon: I just had a feeling after we dated for about a few weeks that she was the one. am the type of person that makes decisions fairly quickly, and within a short amount of time I had decided that she was the one for me. I had stopped dating for quite some time leading up to meeting Tawney and during that time I had prayed and thought about the type of woman that I wanted to marry. I need someone that is patient, loving and kind, and she checks all the boxes. There's no doubt in my mind now that we were meant to be!
