When Travis was in his last year of college in Boulder, an empanada restaurant called Rincon Argentino opened up across the street from his house. He became a frequent customer, and little did he know that the beautiful young girl working the register would one day be his wife. For several months they made eyes at each other when Travis would come in to order one empanada, which is clearly not enough food for a grown man and was obviously just an excuse to see Tati. One serendipitous night, Tati decided to play an open mic night for singer-songwriters in Denver. When she got to the door of the local theatre, the man she had been making eyes at for months was working the sign-up table. "Hey are you the girl that works at that empanada place?" "Yes," Tati replied. Travis explained to Tati that he was working there as an intern. But clearly, that coincidence was fate... almost as if they were destined to meet at some point, one way or another. A couple weeks after this run-in, one evening during a whiteout blizzard in February, Travis was riding the bus home from class. He spontaneously decided that that was the night to ask out the "empanada girl". He hopped off the bus at the stop in front of Rincon Argentino. Feeling ten feet tall, he strutted up to the front door, put his hand on the door handle, and took one look through the glass to see that Tati was working. Suddenly, ice cold nerves set in, and he turned and nearly ran away. He took a walk around the building to compose himself. "No, I have to do this!" he though to himself, turning around. On the second try, he opened the door and stepped into the restaurant. Tati saw through the kitchen window that her long-time crush had walked in. "I've got this one!" she yelled to her co-worker. As she stepped up to the register to meet Travis face-to-face, Travis delivered the best pick-up line of the century: "Um.. it's snowing outside." And the rest is history.
