Our Love Story

Tasha's Version: This little love story of ours started a very long long time ago (an entire decade). Let me paint the scene for you. I was just going through my first major breakup. You know the one where you feel like you’ll never recover from. I spent a lot of time at Tara's house coping by crying and eating ice cream mostly. On one of those cold December nights, I was about to head home, but Tara begged me to stay and said that some cute boys were coming for Tony’s “party.” This so-called party was going to take place in her basement so I agreed to stay. They say that loves finds you when you least expect it and boy was that true for me. So here I am in this basement and Richard walks in. He comes up to me and introduces himself “Hi I’m Rich, and I drive an Audi.” I thought well that’s an interesting way to introduce yourself. Those of you who know Richard know his dry sense of humor. Believe it or not, this comment was not the thing that impressed me the most. It was his moon walk that got me. That entire night I don’t think we stopped laughing. It got to the point that my cheeks were hurting. Richard became my support system after that breakup or as some of you may call it “the rebound.” I distinctly remember him saying there is light at the end of the tunnel, and boy was he right. That light shines bright to this day. Richard is my daylight, and he always will be for me. He has helped me get through some of the darkest and hardest days in my life. And for that I will forever be grateful. He is the person I run to for any minor/major issues. Such as the time I crashed my car and cut off a semi truck, but that's a story for a different time. As the years have passed we have only gotten closer. We bought a home and adopted a little fur baby who has changed our lives for the better. Often times, I find myself saying "I think I like this little life." After all, I have found my person. I have found my forever. I have found the one that makes my heart happy, and I cannot wait to marry my best friend. Richard's Version: I remember when I first saw Tasha I thought she was gorgeous and had a contagious smile. After we talked a bit at the party, we started texting back and forth for several days. Every weekend I would come up and see her, and we would go on dates and just enjoy each other’s company. After we officially started dating I met her family and was introduced to Rakija (plum brandy) and the Serbian culture. After understanding what Tasha and her family endured and having no choice but to come to the USA; it made me really appreciate her and her family that much more. I finally realized I got my true “European girl!” A few months go by, and I found my self falling in love with Tasha. Over the next few years we were pretty much inseparable and eventually she started living with me in my parents house. We would do everything together and I loved every minute of it. After so many years of dating, I FINALLY got a ring and built up enough courage to ask her dad for permission to marry his daughter; thanks to google translate! We left for Hawaii and that’s where we got engaged. After getting engaged a life changing event happened, and I got to see how strong Tasha really was. It was one of the hardest things her family went through yet she was strong, positive, and kept busy. I guess my point I’m trying to relay is even after several years into our relationship, she keeps on shining and teaching me that no matter how tough something can be, you can always get through it. I love this about her. She is my heart and as many of you know, I’d do anything for her. She completes me, and I’m so happy I get to marry her and be part of her family. (My Italian mother would always tell me that when you marry someone, you marry their family) and as corny as this sounds, it’s true. I’m so glad I found someone with an awesome family who is always welcoming and caring! I cannot wait to marry Tasha and start a new chapter in our life.
