Something Bold

The full version... Her version: It was late and the wedding reception was in full swing. My social battery was just about up and I was debating turning in for the night. As I turned to leave, a guy I'd never met walked up to me and asked to dance. He was tall and sweaty (clearly from tearing up the dance floor) and while I was skeptical that he'd make a good dance partner, I decided to give him a chance. Fast forward and almost 10 years later, I can still remember the first time we danced. I'm not sure how he did it, but at times it felt like I was floating on air... And then I didn't speak to him for 3 years. It took me that long to realize I should probably give that tall, sweaty boy with the pretty eyes a real chance and, 4 years later, here we are, getting ready to celebrate our very own wedding. His Version: We met at a wedding in 2017... My memory of the night's events is a bit... fuzzier. There was drinking. But I remember seeing a super cool girl without anyone to entertain her that evening, and thinking she would be fun to hang out with. There was dancing, and ridiculous behavior, and at the end of the night, I worked up my courage and asked for her number, which she didn't seem to think was really that big a deal. A sweaty selfie was snapped and it remains my profile picture of her on my phone to this day.
