We met in a place you probably wouldn’t expect, Outback Steakhouse! We were coworkers who got along well, but life moved us in different directions when I quit and relocated to Dallas (fun fact: that’s Tate’s hometown). I didn’t know many people there, and Tate, being the kind soul he is, agreed to meet up. We hung out a few times, became real friends, and built a connection beyond the restaurant floor of Outback. Not long after, we both ended up back in College Station to finish school. One day, Tate asked if he could join me on my evening walks and he kept showing up, every evening, for three months straight. Eventually, I told him I liked him and that he should probably do something about it. So he did, he asked me out, and we've been together ever since. As time passed, I continued to fall for him not just because of how steady and kind he is, but because of his deep love for the Lord and the way he’s loved me with such patience, care, and intentionality.
We first met as coworkers at Outback Steakhouse. When Mary asked me to hang out back in Dallas, I got really nervous. She meant it in a totally platonic way, but I was already attracted to this, in my eyes, beautiful coworker who also loved the Lord. From the first time we hung out at Klyde Warren Park, I was sold. We began hanging out more and we went on many walks when we were both back in College Station. She kept inviting me out and I was just so excited I got to spend more time with her. I wanted to ask her out, but she seemed to be giving mixed signals (though she claims I was simply oblivious). After she told me she liked me, I didn't want to waste this opportunity that dropped into my hands. I went all out, asking her out and bringing flowers on the first date. I was super nervous, but I wanted to convey that I want to make this work. Over the times spent walking together, I was more and more convinced that Mary was the person for me. I can't be more thankful that God's plan put Mary into my life and that it has worked out to where we are now. I can't wait to continue loving each other and spending the rest of our lives with one another. We can’t wait to begin this next chapter together and we’re so glad you’re here to be part of it.
