Tate and Austin first met in 2013 during their freshman year at UNC Charlotte, where they were dorm neighbors in Witherspoon Hall. They frequently hung out together with their roommates, quickly forming a close-knit group of college friends. When Austin transferred to UNC Wilmington for his sophomore year, Tate remained at UNC Charlotte. Although they weren't at the same school, they didn't totally lose touch when he transferred. Tate and her friends visited Austin in Wilmington a few times, and they kept up with each other’s lives through social media. Fast forward to May 2019, Tate posted a Snapchat story while bartending at Bulldogs. Austin saw the story and reached out, mentioning he was back in Charlotte for a Pharmacy rotation and had just been to Bulldogs the week before. They decided to meet for a drink to catch up. Originally planning to return to Wilmington for the summer, Austin ended up choosing to stay in Charlotte instead. That summer, Tate and Austin spent a lot of time together, and their friendship gradually blossomed into a relationship. Nearly five years later, Austin proposed at The Loop at Wrightsville Beach taking Tate by complete surprise. They’re eagerly anticipating the start of their married life and look forward to finally saying goodbye to their long-distance relationship forever!!
