love is in the air

It was the fall of 2012, when Shelby and Matt met in the most romantic way possible: serving burgers at Bagger Dave's in Bloomfield Hills. At the time, they were both in other relationships, so the timing wasn't right...yet. As the next five years passed them by, they stuck with the company and worked their way into General Manager roles - Shelby remained in Bloomfield, while Matt bounced around, finally landing at the nearby Berkley location. As their careers grew, so did their connection. Between swapping team members, "helping out" at each other's stores, and the occasional mysteriously missing inventory item, they found plenty of reasons to cross paths. By fall of 2017, they both found themselves single, and ready to see where this thing could really go. In 2019, they purchased their first home. In 2020, they welcomed their perfect little spitfire, Layla Mae, who quickly became CEO of the household. Shelby was convinced that Matt would never pop the question! But on August 3, 2025, after their annual friend trip to the UP (where Shelby may or may not have confidently told everyone he would never propose), Matt pulled over on the drive back downstate and surprised her with a lakeside proposal along Lake Michigan. Turns out, timing is everything.
