Our story began in October of 2024. Although we had known of each other and shared the same spaces for years, we never paid attention to one another. It all took place in South Carolina to celebrate my Brother and Sister's Pastoral Installation. I was allergic to some of the food items that was on the menu at the church so my older sister and I left to go pick up something that I could eat. When we came back, a lot of my sister and brother's guest had already eaten and was either fellowshipping or leaving. As I was walking towards my brother's office to eat my food, TJ approached me to ask if I could take him and my aunt and uncle back to the hotel. In my head, I was telling him no, but when I opened my mouth, I said yes. I got my older sister again to drive with me to take everyone back. When we all walked to the car, he politely opened up the back door and helped my sister to the back seat. Mind you, she walked to the front passenger seat. I had such an attitude with him, first and foremost, I was hungry and secondly, he put my sister in the back seat. He then tried to make small talk with me, but I did not want to talk to him. I was trying to participate with the conversation that was going on in the back seat. From that point on, I tried to avoid him every chance I could get so he would not ask me to take him anywhere. After the celebration, I ended up driving him to the airport because he missed his ride. Once again, he tried to make small talk. This time, I had my aunt ride with us and she talked his head off the whole 45-minute ride to the airport. A day or two after leaving South Carolina, he reached out to me (or should I say slid into my DM's). That's when I finally started to really see him. Since that day, October 14,2024, we've been inseparable.
