With the engagement ring hidden deep inside a pair of workout shoes in my gym bag we had made it to Tulum where I was anxious to start planning how I was gonna pull off the best surprise proposal possible. The third day we were there felt like the right time, Tasha’s best friend Karley had just arrived the day before with her boyfriend Mike. That morning I snuck down to the front desk while Tasha was getting ready to get some ideas and ending up setting up a private dinner on the beach at sunset, the front desk lady said to come back in a few hours to finalize everything. After hanging on the beach for the first half of the day I snuck back to the front desk to check in and confirm the plan. However to my surprise the front desk lady who I set the proposal up with was no longer there and had went home for the day. The two people working the front desk now only spoke very little English but with the help of a bystander, they had let me know that the private dinner plans I thought I had all set up we’re no long available. I went back to the beach starting to become a little stressed out but shortly came up with an even better plan. After talking to our hostess, acting like I was ordering more shots.. she started calling to arrange to have a mariachi band to arrive right before sunset and with the help of karley and Mike they hid up the beach. I suggested to Tasha we should go for a sunset walk before we went for dinner. So we went back to our room and got cleaned up for the night and Tash even took a little nap. Hoping everything was in place we headed out for our “sunset walk”. We walked for just a few minutes and at the perfect spot the band came out of nowhere and started playing and I dropped down to one knee and I asked my best friend to marry me.
