Their story began in Washington DC, where they were strangers that both moved to the city in 2014. The radiant fashionista and educator, Taryn, & the artistic and technical intellectual Joseph; attended the same church, where the Lord would use the next 8 years to prepare them for one another. During that time, they would exchange a few jokes here and there, but the romance would be reserved for July 23rd 2021 where they would connect on Hinge and then exchange numbers. Taryn anxiously sent the first message. It was a very neutral, friendly, yet funny message that would spark a curiosity in Joseph that he could not shake. In his mind he explored the possibilities and took the message as an opportunity to get to know her. During their first date he would find more than he could imagine within conversation, the discovery of who she was—And she was dope. On his way home that night the question would echo in his mind—How come he did not know her sooner? And the only conclusion he came to was that perhaps God has hidden them from one another until now. “So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and brought her to the man.” -Genesis 2: 21-22 After phone conversations, intentional dates, and prayer, the couple would make their relationship official on August 5th. The most beautiful and rewarding aspects of this couple journey is witnessing the Lord’s hand in all the details and his leading during this process.
