What airport should we fly into?

Answer

The best airport to fly into is Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San Jose. SJO is about an hour drive from our hotel and wedding venue.

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

Renting a car is not necessary, but it's up to you! Costa Rica does have Uber, but we're not certain how available it will be in the wedding area; that said, taxis are affordable and available, and we're more than happy to help coordinate shuttles to get everyone to/from the hotel/airport. We will also be providing shuttles to get everyone from the hotel to the wedding venue and back. If you plan to do other travel after our wedding weekend, it might make sense to have one, but a car will not be necessary for the events we have planned. Where will we stay?

Answer

Hotel accommodations have been reserved for all our guests at Poás Volcano Lodge. You will not need to book anything with the hotel. We will reach out to you to coordinate payment for the nights you will stay. We recommend checking in on Thursday, July 9th and checking out on Monday, July 13th.

What's the meal situation?

Answer

The hotel includes complementary breakfast, and their restaurant is also open for dinner. Dinner will be provided at our wedding reception.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We know it will be hot and we want our guests to be comfortable, so dress for a tropical summer wedding in the rainforest! July is right in the middle of the wet season, so weather can be unpredictable.

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

The average temperature in July is generally between 64 and 80 degrees. It's the wet season, and the hotel is in the mountains. That said, the rain generally lasts for just a couple of hours, and it's a tropical climate, so it will likely stay warm and humid. Bring comfortable shoes you don't mind getting a little muddy. A rain jacket is helpful, but a poncho can also be a lifesaver because it doesn't trap in heat like a jacket will.

I want to explore more of Costa Rica before/after the wedding. What is there to do?

Some of our favorite areas of Costa Rica are Arenal/La Fortuna (great for outdoor activities like rafting, hiking, ATVing); Monteverde (great for wildlife, cloud forests, ziplining); and Manuel Antonio (National Park on the beach with incredible wildlife). Should I bring a gift?

Absolutely not! The time, energy, and money you spent to attend our wedding is gift enough. Thank you so much! :)
