When people ask how we met, Taryn gives the long version: “Welllll, we’ve known who each other was for two decades. Same friends, same circles… but we never really talked much and he was never on my radar. It’s funny though because a lot of my friends had crushes on him back in the day .” Patrick? He keeps it simple: “It was a long time coming — it was a timing thing.” And honestly, that’s the truth. Timing really is everything. October 8, 2023: Taryn started her Sunday with the Buffalo Bills in the morning, then the Saints game with friends on Metairie Road. Something in her gut told her to head to Gasa Gasa/Breezy’s — it was a gorgeous day and she had seen Patrick was DJing. The last time she had caught his set there was back in March and it was a blast. While everyone else declined to go all the way to Freret St, her friend Erin agreed to pick her up to go…and then left shortly after. So there Taryn was, just hanging with “the guys” all day until Patrick was done. She pulled out her phone to order an Uber but he quickly grabbed it and said with a smirk, “You’re not going anywhere.” Instead, they crossed the street to celebrate Patrick’s friend (now groomsman), G’s birthday. After dinner, Taryn looked at him and said, “Let’s frolic around downtown.” And they did — bar after bar, hours of talking, until 5 a.m. Before going their separate ways, they exchanged numbers and made plans for a proper date two nights later at Rock N Sake… which also lasted until 5 a.m. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Wellll, as “inseparable” as two people living in different time zones can be…Patrick in San Diego and Taryn in New Orleans quickly decided they were all in. Every two weeks, one of them was hopping a flight—San Diego, New Orleans, repeat. And somehow, it was easy. Now, fast-forward to July 19th 2025 in San Diego. Patrick had it all planned: a dreamy sunset proposal on the beach, complete with a secretly hired photographer to capture the big moment. But Mother Nature had other ideas. What started as a sunny, beautiful day quickly turned into the coldest beach day ever. Taryn was freezing. Like, teeth-chattering, can-we-leave-now freezing. Patrick gave her his hoodie, wrapped her in towels, and tried to stall, but he could tell she wasn’t going to make it until sunset. So when Taryn went to the restroom, Patrick called the photographer in a low-key panic: “We need to move this up…NOW.” The photographer rushed over and when it was time to leave, Taryn was ready to bolt for the car. But Patrick? Suddenly moving in slow motion. She couldn’t figure out what his deal was… until he dragged her away from all of the things, gave her a kiss and a long hug and got down on one knee. Talk about a TOTAL SHOCK! Taryn couldn’t believe any of it was happening but cold or not—it was the warmest, happiest moment ever. ~ October 8th will forever be their favorite day — the day the Universe finally brought them together and said “You had to walk your own separate, almost identical journeys to get here. Now is your time. Here is YOUR PERSON.” FINALLY. Everyone says Taryn and Patrick are the same person and it’s the truth. July 19th will also forever be etched in their hearts, as Taryn said “ARE YOU F’ING KIDDING ME?!”, followed by a “YES, BABE!” and May 8th will soon be, too…when they say “I Do!” Fun fact: Gasa Gasa shut down just two weeks later. If Taryn hadn’t listened to that little voice nudging her to go, their love story might never have happened as Patrick would be leaving to go back to San Diego a week later. Wild, right? Instead, he kept pushing his flight back a week at a time, staying a month longer than he had anticipated— it must have REALLY been Love if he was voluntarily missing that perfect San Diego weather that we all know he can’t get enough of. So, with all that said….We’ve waited our entire lives for this kind of Love and we cannot wait to celebrate with all of our favorite people 🤍 Let’s ParTy accordingly!
