I'm a firm believer in the timing of things. Calvin and I would have already met in 2014 when I originally got in for the MPhil in Biomedical Forensic Science at UCT. But then I decided to go to Asia for four years and we only ended up crossing paths in 2018 when I came back to start my MPhil. When I met Calvin, I had a sense of knowing. There’s a Japanese phrase that I like: koi no yokan. It doesn’t mean love at first sight. It’s closer to love at second sight. It’s the feeling when you meet someone that you’re going to fall in love with them. Maybe you don’t love them right away, but it’s inevitable that you will. Our love has grown over the years through a mutual appreciation of coffee, mountains, camping, running and adventure. Then Calvin got down on one knee on the top of a mountain peak on a beautiful day in May and said that there was no one else he could picture climbing mountains with for the rest of his life. We are excited to share and celebrate our love with all of you on our special day in the mountains. To forever adventuring with you, my love.
