Mike and I first met at Wash Park in June 2018 while he was recovering from the norovirus. We unexpectedly ended up walking for four miles around the park and discovered that we connected on many levels. Despite our physical discomfort (him being sick, and me wearing really bad sandals!), I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. During our walk, I appreciated Mike's questions; he appreciated that I was a fast walker. Even with the hour (two in traffic!) between us, we continued to spend time together, traveling to several states and taking Mike's boys on a fun trip to Steamboat Springs. We feel really grateful that God has brought us together, and we're looking forward to our future.
On a random Tuesday night, Mike and I were to meet with our pre-marital counselor and then go to a nice dinner. We'd done that once before, so I thought nothing of it. That morning, our counselor called each of us and said he had to cancel, so Mike called to see what I wanted to do. I said I'd come to his house after work and we'd figure out a plan. My thinking was that we could just eat something from his fridge; after all, it was not a special day and we weren't celebrating anything. I figured we should just save money! He insisted I pick a restaurant, that we could just go out to celebrate us. We landed on one, and before we left, Mike shared with me some reasons why he wanted to marry me. We then left for the restaurant, and the wait was super long. I had wanted to walk by the huge Christmas tree in downtown Littleton before we drove back, so he decided that while we were waiting would be a good time. We walked "toward" the tree (in the opposite direction because I have zero awareness of where I am) via his car, where he had an "early Christmas gift" for me to open by the tree. When we got there, he told me to open the bag I was carrying. I pulled out a box, and while it looked very much like a ring box, I didn't dare look at him, because what if I thought it was, and I opened a pair of earrings?!? Sure enough, a beautiful ring sat inside the box, and I didn't know what to do, lol. He asked; I said yes. We practically ran back to the restaurant because we were FREEZING! After dinner, we toured the Hudson Garden Christmas Lights (where we're getting married!), and then we celebrated with dessert on the way back. It was a perfect evening!
