Flights

There are a few airports you can fly into that may be convenient for your visit to DC. 1. DCA (also called Reagan National): This airport is closest to DC, and is right on the metro (yellow/blue lines). Uber/Lyft/Rideshare options available. 2. IAD (also called Dulles): This is a much larger airport with more flights, but is harder to get to. It does have metro access but is about 60+ minutes on public transit (silver line) or 45 minutes driving from downtown DC. Uber/Lyft/Rideshare options are available. 3. BWI (Baltimore): While technically in Baltimore, the Amtrak and MARC trains make this airport quite accessible to DC. You can expect roughly a 40 minute train ride between the airport and Union Station (downtown DC), or a 45 minute drive. Uber/Lyft/Rideshare options are available.

Where to stay

Our wedding venue is in Glen Echo, MD- it’s just minutes from the Maryland/DC border. While Glen Echo is a beautiful location, if you have any interest in exploring the city, we recommend staying in DC. Great neighborhoods include: Capitol Hill, Mount Pleasant, Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, Eastern Market, Brookland) and driving or taking an uber to the wedding venue. We do not have a hotel block, but some hotels we would recommend are: 1. The Line Hotel – Adams Morgan Neighborhood ($$-$$$) 2. Sofitel – Downtown DC ($$$) 3. Courtyard Marriott – Dupont Circle Neighborhood ($$) 4. Citizen M Hotel – Capitol Hill ($$) *these are small rooms 5. Hotel Hive – Foggy Bottom Neighborhood ($$) *these are small “micro” rooms 6. The Selina – Union Market Neighborhood ($-$$) *very cute, but on a very busy road/can feel less safe at night 7. Marriott Courtyard – Chevy Chase Neighborhood ($$) *close to wedding venue 8. U-Street Hostel – U Street Neighborhood ($) *recommended for younger guests and guests who are young at heart :) 9. Beacon Hotel - Dupont Circle Neighborhood ($$) We also recommend checking out Airbnb or VRBO to book apartment-style accommodations. If you have specific questions on where to stay or are traveling alone and want to be connected with a group for lodging, please reach out to Tara.
