Shane and Tara met through a mutual friend a few years ago, though not available at that time, Shane's thought was "WOW". So later, as the words of wise master Sir Mix-a-lot "So they toss it and leave it, and I pull up quick to retrieve it" First date was at a place Tara is very familiar with, the 4-H fair! Only this time it was in Kosciusko County. His brother, Frank (Bud), was on a float in the opening parade and he had 1 water bottle left by the end, he unknowingly was saving it for someone special- Shane. Bud was curious to see Shane with a mysterious woman. Then he gave good throw and Shane made an amazing catch. He was impressed by Shane and the new woman that would become part of the close-knit family. Shane knew that Tara had him when she asked for pineapple on their pizza, and then all the subsequent pizzas ordered after that. Shane had the pleasure of meeting Tara's parents only a month of dating. Of course her dad Bob had a little house project repair with Shane's assistance. Shane was adopted by his wonderful parents, Russell and Judi. So the fitting thing to do was propose on February 12th, the 30th anniversary of his official adoption into his family, and asked Tara to become Mrs. Pontius and join his family.
