While Phillip wanted me to write an epic similar to that of Homer for our story, I decided to write the actual one, because I like that better. Phillip and I met summer of 2018 at FCVA camp. I was good friends with Phillip's older brother and he introduced me to Phillip. I remember getting to a little airport in VA where the Dyer family was going to pick me up. I waited for a few hours and then they stopped to get me, and to my surprise the younger brother I had heard bits and pieces about was so much cuter and funnier than I imagined. Over the course of the week I saw the way Phillip interacted with those around him in a gentle and loving way, the humble way he led, and the smile that was always present on his (rather adorable) face. I really liked him by the end of the week and after we exchanged numbers we started texting all day everyday. I liked him more and more each day, but he lived in TN and I lived in FL and I figured nothing would ever come of it. But after lots and lots of conversations, texts, and visits, something did come of it. And boy am I thankful that those hours of Skype dates paid off. Okay, I'm taking over the story here. Brent had told me about this Tara girl he went to school with for the longest time, and I had heard good things. But it wasn't until summer camp that I really got to know her. On the way back, (after we had dropped her off at the airport) I asked Brent why no one had "snatched that up yet." While my vernacular has been better, I definitely remember thinking, dating her would be fun, but she lives so far away. A few weeks later we started video calling every night for quite a while, like hours at a time. It got to the point where we had to decide if this was going somewhere. Well, Tara asked me to figure out if I liked her and to let her know... Instead of doing this, I reacted by asking her to date me, and I think it was a great decision.
