It all started on the kickball field. Tara was intrigued by Nick's catching abilities in the outfield and Nick was drawn to Tara's beauty and electric personality. But a few games later, the season ended and they went their separate ways. Time had passed, but they didn't forget about each other, that's why it was such a pleasant and serendipitous surprise when they ran into each other again during a night out in Hoboken in 2017. Sparks started flying and they couldn't stop talking, laughing, and even trying to come up with their own secret handshake. Fast forward to their first date, a bar trivia night that ended with a 2nd place finish. Nick knew all of the trivia questions Tara didn't, and Tara knew all of the questions Nick had no clue about and they found out that they balanced each other out in all the right ways. After that first date, we quickly made plans for a second date the next morning. which ended up lasting the whole day, which led to a third date soon after, which led to us realizing we wanted to spend every day of the week together. We knew we were both happiest side by side and it's where we've been ever since.
We were going back to St. Marteen and St. Thomas since we loved them so much on our first cruise together the year before. This year Nick booked a better room with a bigger balcony, but that wasn't the only trick he had up his sleeve. He had a diamond ring and a well thought out plan to symbolically propose as the cruise ship passed beneath the Verrazano Bridge (a symbol of the linking of Tara's roots in Brooklyn and Nick's roots in Staten Island), but an untimely rain storm got in the way. Nick had to improvise and the captain's dinner the next night provided the perfect opportunity to dress fancy and pop the big question. In the midst of series of pre-dinner photo shoots, at the bottom of the grand staircase in the main hall, Nick dropped to one knee and Tara's jaw and a YES followed soon after!
