When I came across Matthew’s Bumble profile I was immediately drawn to his huge smile and kind eyes. He’s so attractive and his profile sounds like he could be (gasp) normal?! Who is this silver fox? Although skeptical...I had to know. After delaying our first date, we finally met for a drink on August 31, 2018 at Bartaco. It was the newest hot spot in town and was crazy busy. As soon as I walked in the door I scanned the bar area...and our eyes locked. His smile. Swoon. My heart jumped out of my chest and onto the floor. Just as quickly as I found him, I immediately lost eye contact as crowds of people shuffled through the restaurant. I kept my head down as I made my way to his seat and said quietly to myself - you’re in trouble. I knew he already had a hold of my heart. It truly felt like love at first sight. And the drink at Bartaco? That led to a late-night tour of the art museum...and lots of butterflies. It was the best first date...and it keeps getting better.
Tara's big, beautiful brown eyes. I was immediatly taken by those eyes in her photos. So we chatted a little bit and scheduled our first date…which she proceeded to CANCEL. Supposedly because her “parents came into town earlier than expected", which, in fairness, I have come to find out is actually a regular occurrence by Tanya & Ron :) It took a number of weeks before our schedules lined up again. A few texts here and there and we finally scheduled a relativaly short notice date for a Friday night. We decided on the newly opened Bartaco and I arrived a few minutes early. Luckily, even though the restaurant was slam packed, there were a couple of perfectly positioned seats at the bar that I snatched up as quickly as possible…the best place to see the front door directly from my seat. While anxiously awaiting her arrival, I couldn’t wait to see those eyes and kept hoping to myself that she actually looked like her pictures. And with people standing in her way at the entrance, I first saw her blonde hair. Then her blue romper. And as she looked up to scan the bar, with her head slightly tilted downwards and her brown eyes looking up, making them look even larger and more amazing than I had hoped…our eyes locked. She didn’t even have to look around the bar to find me…she walked in and it was like our eyes were supposed to meet at that moment, right at that time, right at that place. It was probably less than a second that we shared that glance and acknowledging smiles, but it's etched in my memory forever. I didn’t believe in love at first sight. And I’m not sure that’s what it was. But it truly felt like it. And from the best first date in history to now, it’s turned into our truly amazing and wonderful love story!
