Gautam was about 1 week into his current consulting project in Michigan, flying back home to Chicago from the Detroit Metro airport. He had a few hours to burn before his evening flight. As he wandered around neighboring gates looking for an open outlet to plug in his phone, he finally spotted one. Sitting next to that outlet was Tara, who was flying home to California. She was on hour 5 of sitting at the airport as her flight had been delayed several times and was finally set to board in about a half hour. Gautam sat down and decided to strike up a conversation with her. They hit it off immediately, and the next several minutes flew by. From the corner of her eye, Tara noticed that her Southwest flight was boarding, and she figured she'd make sure her group hadn't been called yet. Pulling out her boarding pass to confirm her boarding assignment, she checked the monitors and saw what groups had been called. She realized they'd already seated people in her group, so she grabbed her stuff and quickly hurried off. In the rush of it all, no names or contact information were exchanged. As she headed towards her flight, Gautam realized this was a potential missed connection because he forgot to ask her for her name or number. Little did he know, Tara was standing in line to board the plane, thinking the same thing. He racked his brain, thinking of how he could find her again. As he pondered, he recalled seeing part of her name on her boarding pass when she'd pulled it out to check her boarding group. He attempted to search for the fragment of her name that he remembered on Facebook. After several search attempts, he found her Facebook profile! Figuring he'd never see her again and might as well take his shot, he sent her a message. She responded immediately, and the rest is history!
