A piece of California history. The last major town and point of resupply for many a miner hoping to strike it rich during the California Gold Rush. Visit this historic district along the Sacramento River with lots of shops and restaurants, and the famous California State Railroad Museum. Combine your visit to Old Town Sacramento with a quick detour to the nearby California State Capital building.
The location of Tara and I's first date as a couple was here! We walked the State Capital park and passed a wedding ceremony in progress! Combine a trip to the State Capital and picturesque grounds with a visit to nearby Old Town Sacramento.
The gem of Northern California and America's largest alpine lake, is definitely worth the visit. You may run into some traffic if you go on a Friday, but its still worth it! We suggest taking Hwy 50 to South Lake Tahoe to get a full view of the picturesque lake or take Interstate 80 to Tahoe City to capture the essence and true vibe of the lake. You can always take one freeway up and the other back down! Either way don't forget to stop at Emerald Bay, the gem of the lake.
