I spent most of my teenage years yearning for a special guy to sweep me off my feet and keep me protected and loved for the rest of time. No suitor was adequate.. each relationship ended. One day a thought popped up stating “you will find your husband in church”. It was out of the blue, but I was honestly broken.. depressed.. and very confused as to why I was trying so hard to make a man happy and failing. I decided it had to be true. I hadn’t been to church in years, and I had never thought about finding a Christian man. I knew God always had a plan, but I didn’t even know how to have faith and certainly didn’t know what church I was supposed to go to. I went once with a friend but they didn’t go regularly, and it didn’t quite feel like home. Just as I started to doubt, a new guy started to work at my job. They brought me over to work with him and another person. It was Halloween and I was dressed as a “Modest Mouse”.. It probably wasn’t my greatest first impression. “What’s your name?” “Tara” “like the earth? Terra?” “T-A-R-A but sounds like terra” “what’s your name?” “Cain” “like Cain and Abel?” “Yep”... that was about the extent of the first conversation. I went home and researched who Cain was in the Bible and found out he was not nice! But I also found out that he was supposed to take care of the land, the terra.! I also saw that jealousy was the downfall of this story, and that scared me fiercely. I had struggled with jealousy for years, and I never thought about fixing it. On the second day a new table was formed, a ragtag band of geeks. I sat on the right side of Cain, with some other cool weirdos. Lunch was exciting for the first time in forever! I’ll admit I was already crushing on Cain day two.
We officially started dating on January 6th, 2018. Cain was baptized the very next day! Valentines Day was sweet, he bought her a few gifts and she made him a few as well. Tara recommitted her life to Christ and was soon re-baptized around March 2018. Cain took Tara to Thunder Over Louisville in April, it was the most amazing fireworks display she had seen. They were timed perfectly to music. She had a grand time with him and friends. Tara’s Birthday is in June, and Cain made her blueberry muffins, and strawberry cheesecake muffins with the new cupcake tin her got her. He also bought her a selenite tea light candleholder that she really wanted. It was such a special day! Cain had never given much thought on gifts or made muffins before then. In July Tara took Cain up to Michigan to meet her grandparents. This was a super huge deal. She had never brought a guy up to meet her family, but she already knew he was ‘the one’. October was a HUGE month! They both attended Western Kentucky Tres Dias, and had such a life changing time. Then they travelled to Brazil on a mission trip for the Lord. Tara had never been on an airplane nor out of the country. Cain proposed the last day of the mission trip, there were bells, she was on top of the world, it was a perfect moment. Halloween was spent at trunk or treat at the church where they were dressed as Peanut Butter (Cain) and Jelly (Tara). All the kids loved it. In November they spent Thanksgiving with Cain’s family in Louisville. She had to figure out catch phrase real quick, but loved the time and food with everyone. Christmas was a huge surprise, although they had little money they were blessed by their families, and were incredibly thankful!
