Hen of the Wood is in Waterbury, which is a 15 minute drive outside of Stowe. But we still listed it because it is arguably our favorite restaurant in Vermont. They have another restaurant in Burlington, which is where we discovered it, but this is the OG location with the same owner. Upscale yet casual. Very Vermont. Consider making a reservation.
Austrian brewery and beer hall on picturesque farm just outside of Stowe. Decent beer, awesome environment. Not to mention, it was started by the same von Trapp family that the Sound of Music was based on!
If you take your espresso drinks too seriously (like we do), this is our favorite specialty coffee shop in Stowe. It is a few minute drive outside of the main village, but worth the trip!
No frills coffee shop with great grab n go breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and pastries.
Probably the best breakfast in Stowe! Sometimes a long wait.
Quality pub-style food with a cool patio. Oftentimes have live music.
Upscale restaurant that you can make reservations at if you want a nice, quiet spot. "Plate" or "Michaels on the Hill" would be other similar restaurants to look into if this if your vibe.
This is the spot! We've been going to this bar for post-skiing beers since freshman year at UVM and it hasn't changed a bit. Charming and divey. This is also where we are holding the Welcome Party!
The OG Ben and Jerry's factory!! Located a bit outside of Stowe in Waterbury, it's worth stopping by if you're an ice cream lover. They conduct tours as well if you want to be a true fanatic.
Beautiful hike nestled in between Stowe and Smuggler's Notch on the very scenic "Mountain Road". It's only about 1 mile each way (2 miles roundtrip), but fair warning it is quite steep in some areas! *This photo is from our hike in November, which is why we were bundled up!
