Yes, there is an elevator on the ground floor of the Athenaeum, next to the Rathskeller.
A vegetarian option of eggplant parmesan will be made available for anyone who prefers this choice, as long as we know ahead of time in order to ensure the appropriate quantity.
While we would love to be able to meet and enjoy your loved ones, we respectfully ask that guests limit their attendance to those people listed on their invitation. We are able to move forward with the wedding as planned at present, but we have had to incorporate a number of additional precautions to help keep guests safe in the wake of the pandemic. Limiting the number of guests we can invite was a difficult decision for us to make, but it will allow us more room for social distancing, an unfortunate necessity during times like these.
We are working closely with our venue to maintain the highest level of safety for our family and friends. Pens at the guestbook table will be sanitized after each use. Dinner will be 'buffet style,' but plates will already be ready at your tables and food will be served in the buffet line by catering staff wearing gloves and masks. Likewise someone will be assigned to the cake table. Masks will be available at entry for any guest who would like one. They are not currently required inside restaurants and venues. Social distancing measures will be taken during the reception by limiting the number of guests per table and specifying table numbers for guests. Hand sanitizer will available at designated locations. Members of the public will not be allowed to enter the ballroom during our event. We will continue to update this information as we further develop our plans.
Our original honeymoon destination was a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy! However, this idea fell victim to COVID, like so many other well-laid plans this year. Instead, after our wedding last year we rented a rustic log cabin in Estes Park, Colorado in the beautiful, snowy Rocky Mountains, where we were able to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying our first few days as newlyweds. We have a mutual travel goal of visiting all 50 US states together, and were thrilled to be ticking another off the list. We have no current plans to travel between our reception on December 5th, 2021 and when our baby is due at the end of February, 2022.
As of today, September 12th 2021, masks are NOT required. The venue is subject to any Marion County mask mandates that may be instituted, however, even if they are required to enter the building, they may be removed once inside the ballroom. The wedding/reception is considered a private event. Although they are optional, we strongly encourage guests to wear masks when not eating.
No organized transportation has been arranged. We recommend against walking to the venue from the hotel and vice versa. Although downtown Indianapolis is a relatively safe place, things happen, and the reopening of many businesses this year means an increased number of people downtown. Please be mindful that you would be walking back to the hotel in the dark, and certainly do not walk alone.
