Jack and I met in our high school yearbook class. I saw Jack at yearbook camp months before school started and knew immediately that I wanted to get to know him more. So when he sat next to me on the first day of school, I was nervous out of my mind. One of us made a weird noise with our mouths (to this day we argue over who made the noise but it was definitely him.) The noise both got our attentions and we noticed each other right away. Jack said "hi" and I said "hi?" back. This was the start of our friendship. We sat next to each other everyday listening to music, playing quiz games online, or just talking about anything and everything. We would text all the time and made plans to hang out outside of school. We decided to go to a concert together to see one of our favorite artists. Little did we know, when we got to the concert, a sign would tell us that the artist had canceled his show and everyone in Oklahoma knew it except for us. We decided to get dinner and find something to do since our plans were now cancelled. We decided to go to Toby Keith's and sat upstairs in the coolest spot. I remember we both couldn't stop smiling that whole night and my whole face hurt. I was so nervous that I spilled some of my water in my lap on accident. Despite that, it was one of the best nights of my life. Jack paid for our dinner even though I didn't want him to. After that, anytime we'd hang out he'd always say that we were going on another date, implying that Toby Keith's was a date. From then on, we just agreed that everything we did outside of school was a date and the rest is history. I'm so beyond lucky that the best friend I ever had will now be my best friend for the rest of our lives together.
Jack was in Air Force tech school in Texas and it had been a while since we saw each other. Our anniversary was coming up, as well as valentines day, so I went to visit him. We made plans to go take pictures at Texas Tulips because taking pictures is one of our favorite things to do together. We drove 4 hours to get to the tulip field, only to find out they were closed for another few months. I had no idea but Jack was planning on proposing to me there. When we found out they were closed, he had to figure something else out on the spot. We drove to a nearby state park and sat by the lake, watching the water. Jack pointed off to somewhere in the distance saying "look at that bridge!" There was no bridge but I was looking everywhere for one. Then I turned around to question him and Jack was on one knee with a ring in his hand. Of course I said yes and random strangers cheered for us. We were both so happy. On the drive back to base, we were watching the beautiful sunset and talking about how we were going to grow old together. I think I cried for a good hour that day because I was so happy and in love. Every time I looked at him, I was looking into my future and my forever.
