Our story is a bit extraordinary and one that has taken some practice to tell in its entirety. It starts with an initial introduction back in 2009 (thanks to a mutual friend) that only one of us still has a firm recollection of (Tanya’s memory is more like an elephant’s, while Evan’s is a bit more like a cheese grater). While this initial meeting was important, it didn’t result in anything more than an introduction at the time. Years later we were reacquainted through other mutual friends. An initial friendship spurred this time and some fun memories were formed early on (such as badminton in the parking lot fueled by a portable grill and a fish-filled frozen blue cocktail). Eventually, a casual friendship turned into something more significant as we began to share our hopes and dreams with each other, along with our fears and related baggage. And as we continued to share our hearts opened more and more. We started to spend a bit more time with each other, and as we did we realized that something more was blooming and we wanted to see where it would take us. On a cold night at the end of January 2022 we took a drive together and found the perfect place to watch the stars. From that moment, under the stars, it became clear that we were each the person that the other had been looking for our whole lives. Fast forward about half a year and the next big step in our relationship took form. Tanya and Aleks welcomed Evan into their home and a family of two started to become a family of…four (Tanya was very excited to share a home with Evan, Aleks was even more excited to share a home with Rogue). Fast forward another half a year and we took another step toward forming a family that would flourish together forever. We went to E.B. Strong’s for a date night that ended in an engagement! Not only were we ecstatic when the engagement took shape, but so was the rest of the restaurant on our behalf. There was shock and surprise, cheering and chanting, and a meal left untouched as the question may have been popped a little prematurely (in hindsight - Lesson Learned!). And now, here we are, about three months later, getting married in the sister restaurant to where we got engaged, and we couldn’t be happier to be tying the knot to start our eternity - together.
