Tanul and Katy met on a dating app in August 2023. Tanul’s profile had a video of his sweet jump rope skills. Katy’s profile had a selfie with her cat. It’s hard to believe they were both single. Fortunately they found each other. Their first date was promising. Tanul brought a dog (to be clear, not his dog.). Katy was happy to make a last-minute change of plans to accommodate the dog. Conversation was generally engaging—but it was when Tanul said his favorite movie was Titanic that Katy knew. This could be it. Fast forward two years and that early premonition turned out to be correct. Katy confirmed this by asking Tanul on the first night of their summer European vacation, “you want to get married, right?” To which Tanul answered, “Yes.” Katy followed with the clarification, “to me, right?” To which Tanul also answered, “Yes.” And so, wedding planning commenced. Unfazed by Katy’s directness, Tanul proposed in Discovery Park in October 2025. Given that Katy had already purchased a wedding dress, mailed a non-refundable venue deposit, and sent out Save the Dates, he was reasonably confident she would say yes. She did. Tanul and Katy are so excited for the next chapter of their lives together and can’t wait to celebrate it with you.
