Our story began in high school chemistry class. Though we had both attended Clear Creek Community Church for years, it wasn’t until sophomore year that we were introduced through mutual friends. A class that, by all accounts, was as unremarkable as it sounds—except for the fact that it marked the start of our relationship. We hit it off quickly, forming a bond that grew stronger as high school went on. Swim meets, choir concerts, water polo games, weekend hangouts, trips to Sonic, and late-night conversations became part of our routine, and before long, we were a couple. When graduation came, Tanner headed to Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Florida, to pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering, while Haley went off to study Event Design & Experience Management at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. The distance was tough, but not impossible. Our relationship shifted into long-distance mode, relying on frequent visits and regular phone calls to stay connected. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t complicated either—just the usual mix of busy schoolwork and a few too many hours spent on the phone. In January 2023, Haley made another move, this time to Nashville. The distance stretched once more, but by then, we had figured out how to make it work. We managed to keep things steady, knowing we were both focused on our personal goals but still prioritized the time we spent together when we could. Then, in January 2024, Haley relocated to Fort Myers, Florida. This change made things easier. Now we could drive to see each other, which meant fewer flights. We spent more time together, getting to know each other in new ways. Things felt more grounded, and we both appreciated having the flexibility to visit whenever we could on the weekends. In July 2024, Tanner moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, adding another layer of distance to our relationship. But at this point, we were used to it. We continued the back-and-forth routine, each of us finding a balance between our personal lives and the relationship. On December 7, 2024, Tanner took Haley back to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and popped the question. Now, we’re both excited to celebrate the next phase of our relationship with you all back in our home state of Texas on May 31st, 2025!
