About Old Town is the location of the first European settlement in California. It is the oldest neighborhood in San Diego located in the heart of San Diego county with 10 hotels to choose from. Old Town is convenient to everything, located next to a major transit center with access to the train, trolley, busses and taxis. It’s the history and culture that makes Old Town so popular with locals and tourists, and of course the great food and historic sites. Within Old Town there are three Parks, all of which have historic sites operated as museums. Located at the northern end of Old Town is Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, all of the museums are free to the public.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps

Dive into the world of sharks, seahorses, and coral reefs at Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Perched high on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, Birch Aquarium features more than 60 habitats with amazing creatures including a rescued Loggerhead Sea Turtle, a Giant Pacific Octopus, Garibaldi and Moray Eels. Not to be missed are the outdoor tide pools where guests can touch local creatures including juvenile sharks, or the two-story Giant Kelp Forest.
