No one ever truly knows when or where they'll meet the person they'll spend their life with, and our story is a prime example of that. We met at just 14 in line for bumper cars at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, exchanging only a few words before connecting on Facebook. We messaged a few times, then lost touch over the years. Six years later, we stumbled upon each other's Instagram profiles and eagerly reconnected. What started as a quick catch-up turned into daily messages, then daylong conversations. Before we knew it, we had caught feelings. In the years that followed, we moved to Seattle to experience life on our own and grow stronger as individuals and as a couple. Change brought both beauty and challenges, but through it all, we stood by each other and grew. On our fifth anniversary, we got engaged. Life, however, isn't all sunshine and rainbows. While we were happily engaged, other challenges loomed. Kenna’s father, Garrett, battled cancer. Unaware of what lay ahead, we decided we wanted to be married with our families present. So, in June of 2022, we eloped and Garrett officiated our wedding in our Seattle home, planning a second celebration with loved ones. Later that year, Garrett's battle ended, and he passed away surrounded by family. We paused our plans to mourn. Now, after two and a half years, we're starting anew, ready to celebrate with our loved ones once more.
